The RAMPs study will provide a snapshot of the causes, complications and outcomes of major lower limb amputations throughout sub-Saharan Africa

Worldwide, one lower limb amputation happens every 30 seconds. Almost all of the published studies that examine lower limb amputations come from outside Africa. RAMPs will change this by establishing new evidence from sub-Saharan Africa.

Follow up for 30 days

Patients will be followed up for 30-days from amputation, or to discharge from hospital, which ever is sooner

All patients with lower limb amputations

Patients of all ages who have an amputation at or above the ankle will be included

Collaborative authorship model

All collaborators will be eligible for study authorship under the RAMPs collaborative
